Senior Accountant

The Firm
Simmons Livingstone & Associates is a professional Accounting firm located in Hope Island on the Gold Coast. We specialise in a diverse range of services including accounting and taxation, business advice, taxation planning & advisory, superannuation, succession planning and management accounting services.
Because of our high standards of customer services, and continued high growth we are seeking a full-time senior accountant with a minimum 3+ years full-time relevant experience in an Australian professional accounting practice.  Applicants must be self-driven, confident and have superior verbal and written communication skills.

The Role
In this position you will work on tax compliance for a range of entity structures which will include individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies and super funds. With a diverse client base you will have exposure to working with a variety of different industries.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside our Principals and Managers as we provide value to our clients;
  • End to end tax compliance work for a range of clients;
  • Assisting the management with mentoring graduate accountants;
  • Liaising with clients to begin building strong client relationships;
  • Review client structuring and assist in preparation of taxation advice;
  • Prepare financial statements, monitor Key Performance Indicators and assist in creating goal setting strategies for our clients;
  • Look for opportunities to help our clients grow their businesses;

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a professional practice;
  • Be familiar with current tax legislation and apply with assistance from partners;
  • Ability to look after a portfolio of clients;
  • Ability to mentor junior/intermediate staff;

Receptionist

Role Responsibilities:
Your main role will be that of a Receptionist.

As an integral part of our team you will be:

  • Undertaking general Administration duties specific to accounting;
  • Confident in yourself whilst performing within a highly productive office, with time- poor clients with high service expectations and standards;
  • Providing a high level of administrative support to the team;
  • Liaising professionally and confidently with external providers;

This is a very diverse role and responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with and being a point of contact for clients;
  • Liaising with the accounting team and ATO to follow up and assist in resolving client queries;
  • Arranging client meetings and diary management;
  • Scanning and filing of documents;
  • Recording and updating client details in our databases;
  • Preparing and sending forms via Docusign;
  • Processing forms for electronic lodgement;
  • Assisting with tax agent administration of client lists;
  • Reception duties;
  • General administration and office duties.

Essential selection criteria:
In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 2+ years experience in an accounting practice;
  • Impeccable presentation and customer service skills;
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Experience using Sage Handisoft and the Australian Tax Agent Portal is an advantage but not essential;
  • Experience with Xero, MYOB and Quickbooks is advantageous but not essential
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including a confident and professional phone manner;
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and self-manage;
  • Proactive and calm in a busy environment;
  • The ability to multi-task;
  • Willingness to support the team in all aspects of the role;

We are looking for an enthusiastic receptionist who has an eye for detail. You will be working with a friendly team who will value your input.
You will be highly motivated with the ability to learn quickly and work autonomously. You will be well organised and have excellent time management and communication skills. If you’re ambitious and want a career in administration in the long term, we’ll support your goals.

Loan Processor

The Firm

Because of our continued growth, we are seeking a Loans Processor. The applicant must be self-driven, confident and have excellent communication skills.

Role responsibilities:

  • Assist with research and structure of loan applications
  • Process loan applications
  • Follow up with lenders
  • Client file and database management
  • Liaise with clients
  • Provide support to Mortgage Brokers
  • Assist with administration tasks

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a broker support or loan processor (2+ years)
  • Knowledge of lending processes, policies and products
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Experience with the Connective Mercury Software an advantage.
